The battery cameras in Concord Security wireless systems QV5520 (CNK8224WPB-A) QV5522 (CNK8244WPB-A) send video only when their IR sensor is triggered by someone moving in front of the sensor, in order to maximise their battery life. 10 seconds of video after waking is their default setting, which can be changed to 20 seconds or 30 seconds.
However, if you connect an optional mains power USB plug pack to the cameras via a MicroUSB cable, you can configure the wireless battery cameras to send video continuously until the mains power is interrupted.
You will need to download a firmware update and apply it to the Concord base unit from a USB drive.
Please use a PC to download the firmware file from this link:
https://dam.jeg.systems:443/pindownload/login.do?pin=IMWPF4OFIW7L
Unzip and copy the file to a USB stick, and insert the stick into the USB port of your Concord base unit.
Connect a screen and mouse to the Concord base unit, and power it on, if not already running.
Right-click the mouse anywhere in the screen, to bring up the bottom menu bar. Now click the button on the bottom left to open the menu and choose Setup. Enter your password and click unlock.
Now click System, then Maintenance, then Upgrade. Click Select File.
If the USB stick does not appear, swap the USB stick and USB mouse around. Now choose the file:
H7004_V230131V231228V240319V240620V240620V240620V230131V230131V191237_W.sw
Press OK, and then press Upgrade.
This process will take 1-2 minutes, and the unit will then inform you it needs to restart. It will do so on its own about a minute later.
Once your unit has restarted, you can configure the cameras as follows:
Charge your camera, mount it in its desired permanent location, and connect the battery charge port to a mains USB power supply using a MicroUSB cable. The charge LED should be lit (red or green).
On the Concord base unit, use the mouse on the left-bottom corner to go to Setup. Enter your password, and then go to Channel -> Wireless Cameras.
Have someone wake the camera by moving in front of the camera, and immediately click that camera’s drop-down for 10s – it should show a new option: Continuous. Choose this and quickly press Apply on the bottom-right. The option may change back to 10s briefly and then back to Continuous after a short delay as the camera acknowledges the setting change and reports back to the NVR base unit.
Repeat this for each camera you want to have recording continuously.
Note that if the power supply to the camera is interrupted, it will go back to the default 10s, in order to maximise battery life, and you will need to restore the power supply to return it to Continuous mode. The USB port is not waterproof, so you will need to make sure the camera is not exposed to water or moisture.
